Salt Spring Island is the largest of the Southern Gulf Islands located at the southern tip of Vancouver Island.

BC Ferries has scheduled service from Tsawwassen near Vancouver on the mainland to Long Harbour on Salt Spring Island . There are also two ferry routes from Vancouver Island (Swartz Bay from Victoria and Crofton near Duncan). There is also scheduled air service by float plane with service provided by several air carriers, including Salt Spring Air and Harbour Air operating in Ganges Harbour.
